Richmond Zombie Walk

Richmond, Virginia's Zombie Walk has become an annual tradition attracting young and old undead from all across the east coast. At its heart, the Richmond Zombie Walk is a fundraising parade benefiting various charities. We have costume contests and sometimes stage zombie attacks on poor innocent bystanders (all in the name of fun). So put on your bloody best and join the horror show!

2012 was a great year Richmond!

October 29, 2012 by DeadMason

2012. The best year yet.

Thank you Richmond. For everything. You make this event unbelievably awesome every year.

We don’t have a specific count, but I’m pretty sure we went well over 600, maybe 700, zombies on the streets last Saturday. We were also able to break the $1000 mark in donations this year. I never thought we’d be able to do something like that, but there it is. You guys rock the house like that.

We’ve already got our sights set on next year for the 9th Annual Richmond Zombie Walk on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Go ahead and save that date now. Nobody will judge you. We promise.

We were able to award a handful of special prizes to some exceptional zombie costumes and had our event posters autographed by our grotesquely wonderful illustrator, Abigail Larson. By the way, stay tuned for more information on event poster availability. We’ll be reprinting very soon.

Special thanks to Abigail Larson for creating our event poster for the past 3 years. We hope you can do it every year. Thanks to our make up artists, Tony, Jennifer, Liam and Nico, that help with the Make up and Costume Workshop. Also a shout out to Scott and the Richmond Fencing Club for hosting, RVA Magazine, Zombie Victory Gardens, our sponsor Costume SuperCenter, our contest winners and you, my stinking undead walkers.

Bloody kisses all around. See you next year.

Scares That Care

October 12, 2011 by DeadMason

Joe Ripple, horror film director and retired police officer, is doing something really unique. Using horror-themed benefits, silent auctions, films and other events to help other charitable organizations like “Make-A-Wish”, the Johns Hopkins Children’s Cancer Center, and The Kennedy-Krieger Institute.

They’ve got some great things going on now. Check them out at ScaresThatCare.org

BRAINS?! You got it! No, really..

October 29, 2010 by DeadMason

For all of you hungry undead that will be crawling the streets of Carytown in search of brains at tomorrow’s event,  New York Deli‘s mad scientist on the street will have a little treat for you – brains. Yes, they will be serving 100% REAL BRAINS in little cups to any zombie during the walk.

Again, yes, it is real. Yes, this delicacy will be prepared and served to you for consumption. And no, you don’t have to eat it if you don’t want, but I guess we’ll see who the real undead are among us.

“Zombies March” video (behind the scenes)

October 25, 2010 by DeadMason

If you were present at Fangoria’s video shoot for GWAR’s new video, then you are one of few undead blessed by our alien overlords’ presence. If you weren’t.. tough break y’all, because it was some good times!

Sorry you missed it though, but here’s the video proof showing what you missed. You may see some of your zombie bretheren in there and if you look really really hard you can spot your very own Richmond Zombie Walk wranglers in the mix too! ENJOY!

THANK YOU RICHMOND!

October 24, 2009 by DeadMason

It was a major success this year as the rain spared us yet again. Someone up there likes us.

Thanks to all of our participants and everyone who came out to see us. We easily broke last year’s attendance. The final participant count went way over 400+. Something we honestly did not expect.

Thanks for all of your donations. It’s a good cause that we hope to contribute to every year. This time around you broke every previous year’s contributions combined with over $600+. Holy smokes!

If you have any good footage we’d love to see it. We have a brand spanking new group on Flickr called “Richmond Zombie Walk“. So if you’re willing to share, we’d love to see your photos and videos and we’ll try to feature them here on the site gallery (to come).

Now just because the walk is over doesn’t mean we’ll be crawling back into the ground until next year. We’ll be popping up now and again throughout the year to say “Hi” and to share stuff we like. So bookmark us and come back to see us once in a while.

Again, thank you all. We enjoyed spending time with my RVA Zombies and I hope to see everyone next year.

bloody kisses,
