Richmond Zombie Walk

Richmond, Virginia's Zombie Walk has become an annual tradition attracting young and old undead from all across the east coast. At its heart, the Richmond Zombie Walk is a fundraising parade benefiting various charities. We have costume contests and sometimes stage zombie attacks on poor innocent bystanders (all in the name of fun). So put on your bloody best and join the horror show!

2012 was a great year Richmond!

October 29, 2012 by DeadMason

2012. The best year yet.

Thank you Richmond. For everything. You make this event unbelievably awesome every year.

We don’t have a specific count, but I’m pretty sure we went well over 600, maybe 700, zombies on the streets last Saturday. We were also able to break the $1000 mark in donations this year. I never thought we’d be able to do something like that, but there it is. You guys rock the house like that.

We’ve already got our sights set on next year for the 9th Annual Richmond Zombie Walk on Saturday, October 26, 2013. Go ahead and save that date now. Nobody will judge you. We promise.

We were able to award a handful of special prizes to some exceptional zombie costumes and had our event posters autographed by our grotesquely wonderful illustrator, Abigail Larson. By the way, stay tuned for more information on event poster availability. We’ll be reprinting very soon.

Special thanks to Abigail Larson for creating our event poster for the past 3 years. We hope you can do it every year. Thanks to our make up artists, Tony, Jennifer, Liam and Nico, that help with the Make up and Costume Workshop. Also a shout out to Scott and the Richmond Fencing Club for hosting, RVA Magazine, Zombie Victory Gardens, our sponsor Costume SuperCenter, our contest winners and you, my stinking undead walkers.

Bloody kisses all around. See you next year.

It’s not official until …

August 28, 2012 by DeadMason

For the past couple of years we have been fortunate enough to have Abigail Larson create amazing zombified event posters. This year she has out done herself again with our rotten little friend above. So with that, the event is officially official.

Like last year we will have prints available for $5 each at the pre-walk meetup on Saturday, October 27th at 1pm at Byrd Park out by Boat Lake.

Not only that, if you missed getting our 2011 and 2010 Richmond Zombie Walk poster, we’ll have those too.

AND Abigail will be there to sign them if you want. How horribly fantastic!

The Richmond Zombie Walk also has official stuff online that you can’t get anywhere else.. T-shirts, sweatshirts, etc. although this isn’t about us!

There isn’t an emoticon for this, but we [bloody] <3 Abigail.

Abigail Larson at Gallery 5 Tonight

October 7, 2011 by DeadMason

Our favorite local artist, Abigail Larson, will be showing her latest illustrations starting tonight (Friday, October 7) 6pm at Gallery 5 along with Jonathan Smith. Yay for First Fridays!

We have been fortunate enough to have Abigail create our event posters for the past 2 years. She really knows how to capture the spirit of our event and walk the fine line between the macabre and gross. Check out her 2011 poster and her 2010 poster.

So all of you Richmond undead should crawl out of the ditches, put down that half-eaten corpse and show Abigail some love. You may catch some of your rotting brethren there. *hint hint.

Abigail’s work will be on display until October 28, 2011.

Check out the Gallery 5 event page for details.

2011 is all Abigail. Again.

September 7, 2011 by DeadMason

We are fortunate to again have the super talented Abigail Larson create the official event poster for 2011! (Remember last year’s poster contest winner?)

Like last year we will be offering high quality prints at the event for $5 and soon on shirts at our Zazzle site. All profits will go to the American Cancer Society.

Until then, check out Abigail’s amazing work.
